Day 10 - 30 Paintings in 30 Days

Jackson | Pastel | 18x24

Finally, this painting is finished and right at the deadline to send the image in for an upcoming show, BARK!, at The John Natsoulas Gallery in Davis (Feb 4-March 7, 2015).  This labor of love is a portrait of my friend Anna's lovely dog, Jackson.  Most a border collie mutt, Jackson has the coloration of a coyote.  In fact, on a hike with us years ago, we came upon some hikers who were oohing and aahing over the coyote they thought they'd spotted...until he ran back to us and started licking us!  I refer to him as the "Brad Pitt of the Dog World".  He is not only spectacularly handsome but is the sweetest, smartest, all around great dog!  Second in our hearts only to our recently deceased Candy.  Special glass is ordered and this beaut will go into a gorgeous mat and frame in shades of tan and sienna, then off to the gallery for the month of February.
