Day 8 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days
The Church on the Hill | Pastel | 9x9
Tonight, I revisited one of my favorites starts. In 2013 at the Mendocino Open Paint Out's first event, I started this from a visit to the beach after the Quick Draw. I am so pleased it turned out ever so much better than I had started it!
First, I used compresssed air to get rid of the whole bottom 60%. Then, a quick underpainting with isoprophyl alcohol was applied, oranges going to purple. From there, it was a weaving process in each area of the painting. Had a grand time doing it - and that's the point, eh? Tried to place the driftwood so it leads your eye in and points to the steeple.
